Music

My name is Miss Morley and I am the music lead, I am very passionate about music. If you have any questions about music or would like information or advise please do not hesitate to get in touch.

"Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. A high-quality music education should engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. As pupils progress, they should develop a critical engagement with music, allowing them to compose, and to listen with discrimination to the best in the musical canon" (National Curriculum, 2021).

Music at Rosehill

Through the music curriculum we inspire and encourage every child to explore and communicate through music. It is taught through class music lessons, collective singing practice and focused sessions. Our pupils enjoy performing to a wide range audiences and last years Platinum Jubilee was a huge success!

Music starts from nursery where rhythm, pitch and melody is intruduce through play and song. We then develop children's music skills and love of music throughout the school.

Listening skills are essential in music and throughout school we expose children to a wide range of music and encourage the children to talk about what they can hear.

We have made links with Derby Theatre who have arranged for wonderful performances for our school
